Supporters of Children's Charities originated in 1995 by Founder Terry
Duke under the umbrella of a social organization named The Fourth Session.
It was incorporated in 1996 as a separate entity, The Singles Charity Council,
a charity organized exclusively for the non-profit purpose of raising funds for
needy children in the Metroplex by hosting various social events.
Our FUN-raising objective was first accomplished by annually throwing the
largest "singles only" party local residents had witnessed, "The Singles
Charity Extravaganza." Over a period of years SCC social events were expanded
to include happy hours at various localities in and around town.
In addition to these social events, another milestone of the organization has
been the creation of an extensive volunteer base. SCC Volunteers were
originally recruited and used only at The Extravaganza, but later, at other SCC
events and the annual Love for Kids Christmas Party.
Now, volunteer opportunities have grown to include all Love for Kids events, as
well as other charity events such as the Richardson Boys and Girls Clubs
Merchandise Sale, the MDA Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, The Greenville Avenue
St. Patrick's Day Parade, The Mayor's Ball, and The Heart Ball.
Since SCC's founding in 1995, the charity has evolved from a strictly singles
organization into one having no marital restrictions, consequently appealing to
a wider segment of the population and attracting new volunteers and resources. |
